STOKE CHASERS

The original 8-minute short carries a timeless message and lasting impact. After the film was released, Stoke Chasers grew beyond a film into a movement that now spans three films, with one currently in production. Rooted in 16mm and built around California culture, it inspires people to take risks, move with purpose, and live louder.

A 2020 DEBUT
Released into a world of closed theaters and canceled gatherings, the film found its audience through the virtual festival circuit. It reached viewers across cities and coastlines that could not meet in person. It proved a small film can do big things when community comes together in untraditional ways.

PRESS
"Shot on 16mm film, the film has a 'retro vibe' that echoes the feel of the 1966 surf documentary 'The Endless Summer.'"
"We love the film (and Jo) so much that we did what we do best and made a necklace to support it!"
IMPACT
Made when in-person screenings were hard to come by, Stoke Chasers became a point of connection through outdoor community showings. It won Best Student Film at both the SLO Film Festival and the Big Sur Film Festival. From there, it kept traveling. It screened in Cayucos and San Luis Obispo where many scenes were filmed, at community film nights in San Clemente with nonprofits like Sandy Feet Initiative, and outdoors at the 4DWN Dallas skate ramp.
