DIRECTORS STATEMENT

Upon encountering Enzo at the Cayucos skate ramp in November 2020, a creative synergy sparked, foreshadowing our future collaboration. Enzo's allure extends beyond his prowess as a roller skater. Following the completion of my film "Stoke Chasers," which celebrates female skaters and surfers, I yearned to delve deeper into the essence of "chasing stoke" and dismantling preconceived notions tied to identity and backgrounds. Enzo, a remarkable roller skater at the park, stood out not only for his skill but also for his unwavering commitment to sustainability, confidence, and inspirational presence.

Opting for the timeless medium of 16mm film, I sought to grant Enzo's narrative a distinctive stage that not only highlights his lifestyle but also pays homage to a previous era when his unique skating style wasn't adequately captured. This film endeavors to transcend the temporal confines of popular mediums, offering Enzo's story a bespoke spotlight that befits the exceptional nature of his journey.
